The Western Fund provides programs and services to help students including awards, experiential learning opportunities and resources for mental and physical well-being. Why are unrestricted gifts important?
Most gifts to Western are restricted, which means they cannot be used for any pressing needs that may arise. Funds for research, for example, cannot be used for bursaries and vice versa. Gifts to the Western Fund provide vital flexibility because they can be used to address areas of greatest need, including urgent and unexpected challenges.
Can my gift really make a difference?
Gifts of all sizes are appreciated and play an essential role at Western. The collective contribution donors make through Western enables students, researchers and faculty to tackle some of the greatest challenges of our lifetime.
Many donors make monthly contributions within their budget. Spreading a donation over time provides predictability for you and Western. It’s easy – and it makes a big difference.
Why does Western need donor support if students pay tuition?
As with most colleges and universities, tuition does not cover the full cost of providing an education. Additional support is needed to support an environment where all students can thrive and reach their maximum potential.
