Dr. Ron Watson Men’s Hockey Coaching Fund

The Dr. Ron Watson Men’s Hockey Coaching Fund was established to honour Dr. Watson’s legacy and more than 55 years of incredible contributions to the Men’s Hockey Program. Ron spent almost two decades as Head Coach and the last 40 years as a Builder.

Although “Whip’s” contributions and accomplishments here at Western go far beyond his coaching tenure, he is probably best remembered for the time he spent behind the bench as Head Coach of the Mustangs. His passion for coaching and mentoring men are still evident to this day.

In keeping with Ron’s love of coaching, this fund will be used to support the Men’s Hockey assistant coaching budget to ensure that the program has the highest quality coaches contributing to the program’s mission. And if funds permit, it may also support the highest priority needs for the program.
